We at Nunn Design® are crazy about Christi Friesen.  She is funny, funny, funny (and then funny some more!).  We are thrilled to be sponsoring several of her upcoming classes at the June 2012 Bead and Button Show in Milwaukie, WI.

Christi works in mixed media combining polymer clay, glass, acrylic, found objects, gemstones, semi-precious stones, glass beads, pearls, precious metals, and pigments to craft her unique sculptures and art jewelry.

She is an artist simply because she “must be.” Her self-pronounced goal is to amuse herself, and if others are also amused, so much the better. All her pieces are one-of-a-kind and although she may make pieces that are similar in theme or subject, no two will ever be alike. Where would the fun be in that?

I have several pieces of Clarrissa Callesen’s work that I had purchased at Artfest, here in Port Townsend. I love-love-love her funky flair and aesthetics!

Clarissa Callesen is a former Rodeo Princess that left behind her cowboy boots and tiara for the wild adventure of life as an artist. She has been fortunate to work all of her adult life as a self-employed artist. During which time she explored many different artistic roles including tattoo artist, gallery owner, production potter, and currently as an assemblage artist and teacher.
She exhibits throughout the Pacific Northwest at art festivals and selected galleries. She has been published in Linda and Opie O’Brien’s book, Who’s Your DADA? Clarissa has also written several articles for Art Doll Quarterly, and has been published multiple times in Somerset Studio.

In 2006, Charity Stewart, of Momma Mosaics, decided to follow her heart and take the leap from the corporate world into doing what she loves most – spending time with her two daughters and pursuing her passion for glass art.  She is largely self-taught and has been working in glass mosaics for the past 10 years.  She now works from her home studio in Portland, Oregon and enjoys every minute of it.

“When I create, I feel joy. My hope is to share this joy with you through my work, and to bring just a touch of color and whimsy to your day. “

Charity’s original line of mosaic jewelry is handcrafted with genuine Murano Millefiori and recycled glass.  Millefiori is Italian for “a thousand flowers”, and is an ancient technique where glass rods are fused together then sliced to reveal beautiful flower-like patterns.
