How to Colorize & Embed Brass Stampings Video

Many jewelry artists may have already explored the world of working with 2-part resin and now there is an even bigger world that can be explored through colorizing resin with pigments. In this video, shot on location here at Nunn Design with Artbeads, I walk you through the easy steps of adding Castin’ Crafts Pigments to Nunn Design 2-Part Resin (I used Nunn Design RESIN!) and then adding Brass Stampings. http://nunndesign.com/video/create-with-colorized-resin-and-metal-stampings/

Once you see how easy it is to colorize and pour Nunn Design 2-Part Resin, you may get inspired by these additional jewelry projects that are fun and easy to create.

For this cuff bracelet, I poured in my white colorized 2-part resin and let it set. Once the white base was dried, I drilled on a little red colorized resin and let that set. Over the top, I poured clear 2-part resin. This is my attempt at abstract art.

In a past blog post, I made a confession about this piece. 2-part resin has a very short working time before it gets so thick that it can’t be used. I pushed the envelope big time with this piece. The colorized resin was so thick that I was scraping it off the stir stick and into the bezels. As a result, the colorized resin didn’t have the ability to off gas. Air bubbles can get caught below the surface and when they do make it to the top, they leave these little dimples throughout the surface of the resin. For this necklace, I took a knife and drilled out the dimples to make them deep enough to embed some Crystal Chatons. Nice trick…huh?

For this piece, there is a tag that I just laid my brass stamping leaf right onto the surface. This is yet another way to incorporate brass stampings without having to pour a clear Nunn Design 2-Part Resin over the top.

Haylee, our shipping Diva, created this great piece during one of our quarterly Nunn Design Art Days. She removed the loop from one of our Mini Link Triangles and glued it into the base of the Large Triangle Pendant. She then drizzled black colorized 2-part resin around the outside edge with a toothpick. Super cool isn’t it?!
