Patera
Glaze Step-by-Step Instructions:
|
 |
| Print
a PDF of these instructions |

|
 |
1. Select
a photograph or image.
|
 |
|
2. Punch out
photograph using one of the coordinating Patera'"
Punches.
a. Slide the photo into the bottom of the punch
b. Align the image for cropping
c. Punch out
Tip: To keep your punch sharp and clean, use the Cutter
Glide"'. To sharpen punch, punch through very fine sandpaper
or tin foil.
|
 |
|
3. Adhere
the photography or artwork to the bottom of the Patera'"
Finding, with any adhesive making sure the image is secured.
Let adhesive dry completely.
Tip: It is important to avoid air gaps that will allow
the Patera" Glaze to seep under the photo. For some printed
papers, you may need to coat the paper before applying the
glaze. For items printed with an inkjet, the glaze may make
the colors run. Coat the print with a dear spray such as Krylon's
Crystal Clear Spray (does not yellow with age and dries in
minutes) before gluing into the Patera finding.

|
|
4. Fill the
Patera'" Finding with Patera'" Glaze.
a. Start the flow of the Patera'" Glaze on
a scrap piece of paper to push out any air bubbles trapped
in the tip.
b. Start in the center of the image and allow
the Patera'" Glaze to flow to the outside walls of the
Patera'" Finding. A fine stream from the applicator bottle
also helps to eliminate bubbles.
|

|
|
5. Pop any
bubbles with a sharp instrument. For stubborn bubbles,
slide them to the side of the Patera Finding and scoop out.
Tip: Applying a heat source (such as a lit match) close
to the Patera" Glaze will also pop bubbles, however it
best not to get too close.
|
 |
|
6. Expose
the filled Patera Finding to the sunlight (or ultra
violet light) for 15 minutes.
Tip: If you are working in a dusty environment, prevent
dust from settling on the surface of the Patera'" Glaze
by placing a glass bowl over the project while curing.
A black light will cure the Patera'" Glaze, but the drying
time can be up to 12 hours.
Options:
a. To create a raised domed surface, add another
layer Patera" Glaze and expose to cure.
b. For a frosted surface appearance, lightly
sand cured Patera'" Glaze with extra fine sand paper.
