Lucky Charm Necklace Tutorial

Does it really work to adorn oneself with lucky charms? According to some folks the data is there to support that it really does work.

I really like this excerpt from Jeff Haden’s Inc. article titled: “Secret Weapon: Your Lucky Underwear?” Jeff writes:

“We hypothesize that the proposed performance benefits of superstition are produced by heightened levels of self-efficacy.”

Which to the rest of us means that when you do something that helps you feel more confident, at ease, and hopeful–in short, when you believe in yourself–you are much more likely to do your best. Maybe it’s a lucky token. Maybe it’s following a simple ritual that helps you calm down and focus. Whatever it is, if you believe it can help… it can help.”

For myself, I have certain iconic images, charms and tokens that I am drawn to. I’m not sure why I’m connected to them, but they tend to calm me and make me feel grounded.

Create your own lucky charm necklace with this quick and easy jewelry project.

Supplies Needed:
24” Ball Chain-Antique Silver (bc-sb)
1 Toggle Ring Contemporary-Antique Silver (trc-sb)
1 Toggle Ring Small Hammered-Antique Silver (trsh-sb)
1 Toggle Bar Small Hammered-Antqiue Silver (tbsh-sb)
2 Ball Chain Crimp Connectors-Antique Silver (bccc-sb)
9 Jumpring 9mm Textured Oval-Antique Silver (jr9to-sb)
1 Charm Mini Horseshoe-Antique Silver (cmhssb)
1 Charm Wishbone-Antique Silver (cw-sb)
1 Charm Mini Arrow-Antique Silver (cma-sb)
1 Charm Mini Star-Antique Silver (cms-sb)
1 Leaf Charm-Antique Silver (lcs-b)
1 Charm Primitive Heart-Antique Silver (cph-sb)

Tools Needed:
2 Pairs of needle nose pliers

Other Supplies:
Multi-purpose adhesive (such as Bond 527
Cement or E6000)
Toothpick
Wet-wipes
Small Cello bag

Step 1:
Using 2 pairs of needle nose pliers, attach the 6 different lucky charms using 6 of the Jumpring 9mm Textured Oval onto 1 of the Toggle Ring Contemporary.

Step 2:
Open one of the Jumpring 9mm Textured Oval and insert it into the loop on the Toggle Ring Contemporary. Close.

Step 3:
Thread the 24” of Ball Chain through the Jumpring 9mm Textured Oval.

Step 4:
To provide the necklace with additional strength, I like to put a drop of glue into the Crimp Connector prior to inserting the Ball Chain. Squeeze a wee bit of Bond 527 Cement (or E6000) onto a small cello bag. Using a toothpick, insert a wee bit of glue into the Crimp Connector. While the glue is still wet, insert a single ball from one of the ends of 24” Ball Chain. Close crimp connector with hand and needle nose pliers. Repeat for the other side.

Step 5:
Using your needle nose pliers, open one of the Jumpring 9mm Textured Oval. Thread the jumpring through the loop on the Crimp Connector and Toggle Ring Small Hammered. Close the jumpring. Open one of the Jumpring 9mm Textured Oval and thread the jumpring through the loop on the Crimp Connector and Toggle Bar Small Hammered and close the jumpring to complete the necklace.

Step 6:
