Did you know pearls are the only jewel created by a living creature? It is an organic gem, formed when an irritant such as a bit of sand or pebble finds it’s way inside the oyster shell. No grit, no pearl. I like that as a perspective on life, there has to be the grit or irritant to create the beautiful, luminous, organic gem of a pearl.
We’ve been seeing a lot of “Pearl Parties” on facebook lately and thought it might be time to re-share some pearl inspiration and tutorials that you can do with your pearls. Ready? Let’s go!
The more pearls the better! Love these beauties from ilovejewelryauctions.com.
On the subject of MORE, we have hit the mother load with these awesome necklaces from Stephanie of Savage Salvage.
Tied Up Memories incorporates vintage pearl findings into fresh new jewelry pieces on her Etsy site.
Aren’t these bangles awesome from Wallin and Buerkle? Love the black metal and the fiber wrapped pearls.
Here are a few tutorials that can teach you some tips and tricks on working with pearls.
Check out this tutorial by Sunstones Gem and Jewelry. She walks you through making this great gem-drop necklace.
And here is a great tutorial from Kleines Feines Nestchen from her blog. It is in German, but that’s why we have pictures and Google translator, am I right?
I really like the look of linking the pearls together as shown in this tutorial. I could see just connecting 3 or 4 as a pendant. It is in Russian this time, but again Google translator is pretty helpful.
Malina of Just Dangles wraps up pearl pendants that are oh so lovely.
Katrin of Frosted Willow creates such lovely bangles! I especially love the use of pearls in these jewelry pieces.
