Here is another beginner wire wrapping project that you could make and wear the same afternoon!
2 Elongated Drop Ear Wires Brass
2’ of 24-gauge gold wire
6” of Rhinestone Chain 14pp
1 pair of Shear Flush Cutters
1 pair of Needle Nose Pliers
To ensure that the Rhinestone Chain 14pp is even for both earrings, measure 3” of chain. Cut the Rhinestone Chain using your Flush Cutters. Prior to wrapping your earrings, double check that the Rhinestone Chain is equal in length. If you would like just a spot of bling, use even less Rhinestone Chain and save it for another project!
Using your Flush Cutters, cut the 2’ of 24 gauge wire in half. Start your wire wrapping by wrapping three times about 1/2” from the top of the ear wire. I like to pull the start of the wire taut with a pair of needle nose pliers. Once you have wrapped your 24 gauge wire onto the ear wire three times, you will be ready to start wrapping your Rhinestone Chain.
Lay the rhinestone chain on the ear wire and continue to wrap the wire around the ear wire and the rhinestone chain.
I wrapped the 24-gauge wire two times between each gap of the rhinestone chain. This can feel very awkward at first, so take your time. Once you get the first part attached, it will become easier to wire wrap the chain to the ear wire.
Continue wrapping around the point of the Elongated Drop Ear Wire until you have reached the end of the rhinestone chain.
At the end, wrap the 24-gauge wire around the ear wire three times and trim off the excess with a pair of Flush Cutters. Use your Needle Nose Pliers to make sure that the cut end of the wire is laying flat against the ear wire.
Continue Steps 1-3 for the second earring. As you arrive at the curved point in the Elongated Drop Ear Wire, you will want to make sure that your rhinestone chain is in the same position and matches your first earring. If it is not the same, you can slide the rhinestone wrapped chain up on the ear wire using your fingers.
It will be challenging to change the positioning of the rhinestone chain so it matches once you wire wrap the rhinestone to the corner, so take a moment to check.
Make your other two pair! Aren’t these adorable?
