Nunn Design Art Day Exploration
Credit: Cheryl Weinstein
Quarterly, Nunn Design takes a day and gets down to some serious playtime!
Last week we featured a blog post about our Nunn Design Art Day “education lottery” that we all participated in. We were all teaching the newest team member, Joe, some of the various techniques that Nunn Design has to offer. You can read all about that post here: Nunn Design Art Day – Team Nunn Takes to Teaching!
In between the Nunn Design Team Members teaching Joe, they were off on their own creative explorations. As a team, we had discussed some technique ideas that we wanted to collaboratively explore. Here are the pieces from the team’s creative play.

Kathryn had scored a bunch of fabric swatch books from a free pile, so she brought the books into the office to share. Christee created these pendants using scraps of fabric, Nunn Design 2-Part Resin and Open Back Bezels. The specific bezels shown are: Open Pendant Half Oval (ophos), Open Pendant Hammered Large Circle (ophlcs) and a Classic Deep Pendant Mini Circle (cdpmc).

Kathryn also brought in a stack of skeleton leaves for us to play with and Haylee was all over that! She used Crystal Clay in the base of the Classic Deep Pendant Mini Circle, then pressed in the skeleton leaf and poured Nunn Design Resin over the top. This is a tutorial that will be coming soon to the Nunn Design blog. Do you subscribe already?

Cheryl was in charge of using up every little bit of excess resin from Joe’s many “education lottery” teaching sessions with the other team members. We had a variety of colors and techniques that we wanted to explore using excess resin and Cheryl was busy colorizing the resin and pouring it out onto sheets of plastic to soft cure. Right when the resin hit the ideal soft cure stage, we all worked together to cut, roll and sculpt these fun pieces using excess colorized resin.

Heather took the cutting, rolling and sculpting one step further by pressing the soft cured resin into a mold to create this look! Awesome huh?

Cheryl also played around with texturing a little Crystal Clay and applying Nunn Design 2-Part Resin over the top. These pieces were created within several new findings from the 2019 Winter Collection!

For this sample, someone on the team played around with adding white Crystal Clay into the base of the Nunn Design Bezel. Mica Flakes were layered into the clay prior to a batch of colorized resin being added. Once the resin was cured, the top was sanded with a fine steel wool. Yet another full tutorial to come in 2019!

During Art Day, Heather was busy creating formulas for the 2019 Pantone Color Formulas using Nunn Design 2-Part Resin and Opaque Pigments. During mixing the color formulas, she grabbed a couple of the new Organic Rings to create these lovely samples.

I would have to say, that between the education lottery where Team Nunn was teaching the new guy and this creative play, it was one of my favorite Art Days yet!
